Buying a home is an exciting and important time. But before taking the plunge, there are a few things that you'll want to consider. Hi, I'm Emma Dearing, and today, I'm going to walk you through the three top things you need to do before purchasing your home.

The first step is going to be to sit down with a real estate agent. Now, I know what you're thinking. Of course, I'm suggesting that because I'm a real estate agent but it truly is the first step. Sitting down with a real estate agent is a great way to learn the whole process of buying a home, and we also have some really amazing resources to connect you with the right people. Whether you're buying in five days or five years, meeting with a real estate agent, as the first step can ensure that when that perfect home does come along, you're ready to pursue it. Step two is going to be to get pre-approved with a lender. Going to shop for homes without a pre-approval is like going to the mall without your wallet. Before you make assumptions about if you need to have a higher credit score or if you should save more money to put down towards your down payment. Meeting with a lender is a really good way to have them guide you and assist you in making these decisions and knowing where you need to save up. Step three is going to be to make sure that you understand all of the cost involved. Outside of just the down payment, there are going to be other expenses like inspections during escrow or even the closing cost at the end of escrow. During our first meeting, I make sure to review all of these possible expenses with you and ensure that you're comfortable with them.

But before we go to shop for that home, it's important that you review these expenses and find where they fit into your budget so you can come to me if there are any out-of-pocket costs that you think might be uncomfortable for you so that I can find a solution. By following those three steps before shopping for your home, we can ensure that we find you the perfect home that's also comfortable for your budget.
