Zillow is not where you should start your home search. It’s not synced with our local MLS and can be wildly inaccurate. Our home search site is a great alternative.

Buying a San Diego area Home? Search all homes for sale

If you do any kind of home search, the first website that will pop up is probably Zillow.com. That’s because Zillow has the most money to spend on advertising to make sure they show up at the top of search results.

Unfortunately, Zillow is one of the most inaccurate websites you could use for your home search. Zillow's data used to be accurate when it was synced with the MLS; however, it stopped syncing about a year ago.

Our MLS and Zillow no longer sync together, and as a result, Zillow is loaded with inaccurate information. There are 30% more homes showing up for sale on Zillow than are actually on the market. A lot of the homes that show as available on Zillow have already been sold or put under contract. You need a more reliable source.

A better option than Zillow is our own website, Whisselrealty.com. Our site is synced with the local MLS and gets updated hourly. If you see a property on our website as active, you’ll know it’s truly active and we can show you the home.

There are still some agents out there that for whatever reason choose not to sync their properties to third-party websites like Whisselrealty.com. At any given time, there are between 500 and 2,000 properties that are listed on the MLS, but not on any website or other listing service. The only way to get access to these properties is by talking with a Realtor so we can ensure you don’t miss out on those opportunities. We don’t want you to miss out on your dream home.

So stay away from Zillow, get started searching for homes on our site, and keep in contact with a Realtor so you know about any additional homes listed on the market that you wouldn’t be able to find otherwise. If you have any questions for us, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
