Don't make this common first-time homebuyer mistake! San Diego realtor Christopher Rossi talks about a common first-time homebuyer mistake of not getting pre-approval before starting their home search.

Avoid This First Time Home Buyer Mistake

I work with a lot of first-time home buyers, and they're actually doing the process of buying their homes wrong. What they do is they go out there and search for the home, and then they want to submit an offer on it. But I'm here to tell you that that's not the first step.

I'm Chris Rossi with the Whissel Realty Group. And I'm going to show you a little bit more about what the first step is in buying your home. The first step is actually getting a pre-approval. And what a pre-approval is, is it shows you how much you can afford that way you're not lookin' at homes that are too much or lookin' at homes that are way below your price range. And with this, you're actually in a strong buying power.

That way, when you do find your home, you can actually submit that offer 'cause if you find your home first and you don't have the pre-approval, you might have to wait a couple of days before you are able to submit that offer. And in this market right now, it's very hot. So that home might be off the market. So this is what I'm tryin' to avoid for you.
